PURCHASING ASSISTANT – 9 MONTH CONTRACT

 

Based – Huddersfield, HD9 7BN

 

Salary – £20000 – £24000 pro rata

 

Benefits – 20 days’ (+ 8 statutory days) annual holiday (pro-rated for temporary contract), free onsite parking, pension, and death in service life assurance scheme.

 

Job Description

 

This is a great opportunity join a small but successful company that is committed to training and promotion from within.  The company specialises in the manufacture, distribution and installation of physical security solutions. Its main market is the UK, but the company has recently started to become involved in export projects as well.  The Company founded in 1990 has grown to become one of the leading suppliers of safes and secure storage solutions.

 

They are now looking for a Purchasing Assistant to cover maternity leave for a period of up to 9 months.  You will be working alongside our current Purchasing Assistant within a Head Office team comprising of Finance, Purchasing, IT, HR & Compliance.  Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be based in Brockholes (nr Huddersfield), however need to be willing and able to visit the other site in Leeds as required.

 

Your duties will include:

 

– Joint responsibility for all company purchasing.

– Sourcing the best deals with core suppliers.

– Managing day to day supplier communications in terms of delivery dates, product specifications, faulty goods and querying price discrepancies.

– Entering accurate information onto the company’s ERP system.

– Managing inward logistics.

– Liaising with the sales team to source products and establish lead times for non-stock items.

– Preparing stock forecasts and out of stock reports.

 

To be successful you must have a significant demonstrable track record in a similar purchasing role.  You will be educated to “A” level standard and have well-developed communication skills.  Ability to work as part of a team is critical, as are good organisational/time management skills.  You must be proficient in Microsoft Excel including V-look ups.

 

It would be beneficial if you have experience in logistics and freight forwarding, ideally with experience of dealing with an overseas supplier base and a good understanding of importing products to the UK.  Knowledge of Microsoft NAV would also be beneficial.
